I come to the Alexander Technique from a professional Dance and Theatre background as well as from a need to understand and solve my chronic back and neck pain (success!).
A 2006 graduate of The Dimon Institute for Alexander Technique in New York City, I was thrilled to discover Penelope’s work in 2020: her wealth of knowledge and her ability to communicate that knowledge deepened and helped specify my experiential understanding of the Technique, as well as honed my teaching skills. As things open up again in 2021, I now also bring what I learned with her online to my in-person teaching.
I have taught students from ages 7 to 96 and from a wide scope of professions and life-experiences. Because of my performing arts background, I possess a deep personal understanding of how working through the lens of the physical with Alexander impacts emotional presence and availability, as well as Voice, musicality, and range. I served as lead Alexander teacher at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC) for 5 years and enjoy working as an adjunct in both conservatory and corporate wellness programs. I have specialized training in teaching Alexander to those on the hypermobile/ Ehlers Danlos Syndrome spectrum.
